How to Throw a Beer Tasting Party
- May 21, 2014
Summertime is practically upon us and with it the season of barbeques and backyard events. If you’re looking for something fun and unique to try, consider throwing a beer tasting party for your friends. Use custom sheeted labels to create personalized beer bottle labels. We recommend our 4" x 3" polypropylene custom sheet labels - the perfect size for beer bottles and cans.
Choose a selection of craft beers, along with some classics. It's okay to mix it up - after all its a beer party we're talking about here. Place labels over the original labels and encourage your guests to try and figure out the flavors or even the type or maker of the beer.
You can also select different beers for tasting and pour it into 5-ounce glasses for your guests. Encourage them to describe the flavor, aroma, and finish. Provide paper for people to keep notes about what they like and keep a list of what each beer is to reveal after the tasting.
Make sure you’re serving the beers at the right temperatures and start by serving the lighter beers and moving to darker. Also, consider serving bread or crackers to help your guests clear their palettes. You should also have a pitcher of water on hand so they can rinse their glasses between the different beers, just as you would at a wine tasting.
