Q: What is a printer driver?

A: A printer driver is a software program that allows a computer to communicate with a printer by translating data from the computer into a format the printer can understand.

Q: What function does a printer driver perform on a computer?

A: A printer driver enables your computer to communicate with the printer. It’s main purpose is to allow users to print without needing to understand the technical details of each printer model.

Q: Can I install a DYMO printer on a ChromeBook?

A: Unfortunately, DYMO printers are not compatible with Chromebooks. Dymo devices are supported by 32-bit and 64-bit local operating systems like Windows and MacOS. To help you further, we’ve listed the printers and their drivers specific to the computer you’re using!

Q: Do I need DYMO software to print labels?

A: Yes, you need DYMO software to print labels if you want to use a DYMO LabelWriter printer from a computer. Third-party platforms still require you to have the software installed on your computer. We’ve provided the necessary software to make printing a little easier!

Q: How do I connect my DYMO printer to software?

A: There are three ways you can connect your DYMO printer to software: 1. LAN Connection: if your printer supports LAN, download and install the DYMO Connect for Desktop Software. Plug the LAN cable into the printer’s LAN port and then into an active LAN port on the network. Open the software and select “Add Network” printer from the file menu. 2. USB Cable: Plug the printer into the computer with a USB cable. The computer should automatically recognize and install the DYMO printer. 3. DYMO Wireless: Click the WiFi icon, select “New Network”, find the network name on the printer’s bottom sticker and connect to it. To install software, navigate to File and select “Add network printer.” This allows the software to search for your printer and install automatically on your device.
