Parts of My Labels Aren’t Printing…What Do I Do?
- Aug 6, 2013
"I’m trying to print address labels using my Dymo LabelWriter printer. However, a piece is missing on each label. Since the LabelWriter is a direct thermal printer it doesn’t have a color ribbon, so it can’t be low on ink. What is wrong with my label printer?"
If you notice that multiple labels are being printed with a piece of the text missing, it’s most likely because there is something on the print head, or drive roller. Begin by running the cleaning card through the printer repeatedly. If that doesn’t work, it’s likely because debris or adhesive is on the drive roller, which will have to be removed manually. While this does need to be done carefully, it is a problem that can be easily resolved.
1.Unplug your printer
2.Lift the cover and remove the spool with the labels.
3.Remove the face of the printer.
4. Use the release level on the side to move the print head away from the feed mechanism.
5. Use WD-40 to gently wipe the label adhesive from the drive roller using a Q-tip. NEVER use anything metal to scrape the adhesive away, since this will damage your printer.
6. When the dry roller has had time to dry, run the cleaning card through to remove any remaining adhesive.
