My labels are printing light text…what do I do?
- Aug 12, 2013
The 300 and 400 series LabelWriter printers are designed to print with 300 dpi, and the 450 series provides a print resolution of 600 x 300 dpi. However, what do you do when your printer produces labels that are light or incomplete?
- Run a Dymo cleaning card through the printer to establish that there is no debris built up on the print head.
- It may be necessary to remove the front of the printer and clean the drive roller with WD-40.
If the labels are still printing poorly, try changing rolls of labels, since it’s possible that the labels might have been improperly stored.
Do you use your Dymo LabelWriter printer for high volume printing?
If so, it’s possible that you have worn out the spring mechanism that holds the print head firmly in place. While the Dymo was designed to last and has a life span of 500,000 standard address labels, it was not designed to print thousands of labels per week. If you are using your label printer for high volume labeling and you are experiencing poor quality labels, then you have likely worn out the spring mechanism and the printer will require replacement.
