Increase Product Sales: Label Non-GMO Products

There’s no way anyone could have missed the changes going on in the food industry in recent years. Consumers are demanding an increasing level of transparency from restaurants and grocers. It certainly has made me rethink my section on the occasions I stop at fast food restaurants. Perhaps I don’t want that 900 calorie hamburger after all.

Though the California measure last fall to require labels for genetically altered foods failed at the polls, there was hope that it would encourage more transparency with the foods we regularly consume, particularly the meat and seafood.

Sure enough, just a week ago, Whole Foods announced that they would require labeling on all genetically modified foods that are sold in the stores, a move that some say could radically alter the food industry.

If you create all-natural products, it’s important to take advantage of the interest in non-genetically altered foods by clearly labeling your products with labels that clearly tell customers they are all natural.  As A. C. Gallo, president of Whole Foods, notes, “We’ve seen how our customers have responded to the products we do have labeled…Some of our manufacturers say they’ve seen a 15 percent increase in sales of products they have labeled.”

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity…start labeling your non-genetically modified products today!
