5 Tips to Organize Your Classroom for Efficiency

It’s hard to believe that summer is essentially over and school will be starting next week across most of the country. Teachers are busy getting classrooms ready and preparing for the return of their students. One thing that can help to make the coming year easier, however, is to make sure your classroom is as organized as possible BEFORE your students return. Use these tips to make sure your classroom is organized for max efficiency this year.

1. Create a spot for students to turn in homework or handouts and use a file folder label to label each of the pockets with the student’s name.

2. Put labels on magnets to create a magnetic classroom schedule chart. Not only will this make it easier for students to keep track of what the schedule is day to day, but it will also make it easy to see when adjustments need to be made to the schedule.

3. If you have special groups within the classroom, use pencils in specific colors to delineate which student belongs in which group (the red group, the blue group, the yellow group, etc).

4. Be eco-friendly by having students use small whiteboards to write down the answers to problems on the board. It allows you to easily see their work and take note of who is struggling without

5. Keep learning fun and interactive by mixing lessons with sports. Use a bean bag toss and other similar games as a way to have students practice math or other subjects
