3 Unique Ideas for Using QR Codes

There’s no denying that QR codes are becoming increasingly popular. When they first made an appearance a few years back they were a bit of a novelty…but now it seems like you see them everywhere, from magazines to products to billboards. A couple years ago I was at Busch Gardens in Tampa and they were using a giant QR code to advertise one of their upcoming attractions. There are even companies that will put QR codes on tombstones so that the family of the deceased can write more than just a few words about their beloved family members.

As you can see…QR code labels really are EVERYWHERE!

However, because they are everywhere, you’re going to have to work even harder in 2013 to get your QR codes noticed – to make sure they don’t just fade into the background.

I do have a few suggestions for you that should help get your QR codes noticed more easily.

One way to attract attention with your QR code is to place it in a location where people are going to be waiting. How long does it take you in the waiting room at your doctor’s office before you pull out your smart phone and start to play? Or what about the lines at an amusement park? Anywhere people are standing around waiting, trying to entertain themselves, is a great time to throw a QR code at them because they’re going to be far less distracted than they are at other times during the day.

Another idea is to consider putting your QR code inside an image. Whether it’s your company’s logo, an image of one of your products, or something else related to your business, placing a QR code inside an image is a great way to catch the customer’s attention.

If you want to get REALLY creative you could take this a step further and actually use a video to animate the inactive object or picture the QR code is placed upon. This would require you to create a video that would pop up of the object, and when you place the smart phone on the image, the image itself becomes animated.
