Save Time and Money When You Label Your Inventory
- Jul 29, 2013
Does your business require you to keep inventory on hand? Maintaining inventory can be a huge challenge for businesses. Items can be misplaced, lost, or improperly stocked. You could find yourself with too much inventory or backorders from not having enough. There are any number of complications that can arise from poor inventory management, problems that can leave you feeling like you are doing nothing but pouring money into your business and getting nowhere.
There is a solution, however. One that won’t require excessive funding. Use inventory labels.
Well, okay, using inventory labels is only a piece of the puzzle. Every location in your facility should have not only an inventory but also a name. Give the aisles individual numbers, assign a letter to each section, and then label each shelf within that section. Check out these additional steps from ClearlyInventory:
- Use labels that are durable and use a permanent adhesive (as opposed to using labels that could be moved easily and possibly fall off)
- Make sure the labels are easy to read from a distance
- Use a label printer like the Dymo LabelWriter or Zebra label printer, which can print on-the-spot as you need to change or create new labels
- Use arrows to clearly indicate the shelf the label is identifying
