5 Ways to Improve Efficiency in Your Warehouse…Without Adding New Software

1. Have a system for upkeep. Create a daily checklist for the warehouse manager so that when your warehouse is well organized, it will stay that way. Make sure you have the system in place BEFORE you have it in order so you will be able to hit the ground running when everything in the warehouse is in order.

2. Perform cycle counts quarterly. Don’t wait until the end of the year to perform an inventory control audit. Go through your inventory quarterly so that you have a more accurate back-office system.

3. Know Your Best Sellers. Establish what your best selling products are and place them closer to the shipping area. This will save time running back and forth receiving those products.

4. Quality control. You can save your business a lot of money by having someone double-checking orders after they are packed to make sure they’re accurate.

5. Label everything. Have aisles and shelves labeled clearly so items can be located quickly and easily, according to aisle and shelf number. You can use inventory labels for maintaining quality control or color code to manage inventory rotation.
