Organize Classroom Books with Color Coded Labels

Every teacher has different methods of organizing their classroom. The library section of a classroom or even a school library can be challenging for children. They may find books but struggle when it comes time to return those books to their proper locations. Combat this problem by using color coded labels!

LabelValue.com’s point of sale labels make great library labels for managing the book collections in classrooms. Place a round color coded label on each books and categorize books by color according to the type of book. The following categorization provides a good place to start:

Fiction books: Blue

Non-Fiction: Green

Chapter Book Series: Red

Non-Series Chapter Books: Purple

You can also categorize books according to reading level, whether by placing an additional color-coded label on the spine of the book or by writing the number on the sticker that you’ve placed on the book for categorizing by genre.

Placing color-coded stickers on books in school libraries is also a great way to organize books according to the corresponding grade/reading level. Simply place a color-coded library label on the spine of each book and write on the grade level appropriate for that color.

Make sure you purchase color code labels with permanent adhesive or they will fall off the books over time with the wear and tear books receive from kids. Also be sure to use a permanent marker and purchase semi gloss or matte labels, or else you will find your numbering system smearing or wiping off altogether over time.
