LabelValue Installs Ska Fabricating Depalletizer, Expands Shrink Sleeve Application Capacity For Craft Breweries

Custom Label Provider Adds Depalletizer, Increases Application Capacity for Shrink Sleeves on Cans for Craft Breweries in Tampa Bay and Beyond

Tampa, Fla., Dec. 6, 2021 – LabelValue today announced it has installed a second piece of palletizing equipment from Colorado based Ska Fabricating. The Ska depalletizer will allow for the smooth and reliable transfer of cans to the shrink sleeve application line. This equipment delivers efficiency and reliability to the operation and expands LabelValue’s capacity for shrink sleeves on cans. This will enable LabelValue to supply more shrink on cans to customers in the brewing industry, specifically those local to the Tampa Bay region.

“We used Ska Fabricating’s repalletizer to great effect in our shrink application line,” said Paul Puleo, President, LabelValue. “The bottleneck for us was occurring at the initial step of removing the cans from the pallet and getting them onto the application line. We’re excited to address that issue and increase the speed and reliability of our services. We place an emphasis on delivering our labels, sleeves, and cans in a manner that is seamless, timely, and most importantly high quality. We will be in a better position to deliver these things to our clients with the installation of this piece of equipment.”

LableValue serves many businesses in the food and beverage industries, specifically many craft breweries, across the Tampa Bay region and beyond. The ability for craft breweries to can small quantities for their unique brews is essential to their operations. Small runs allow breweries to expand their customer base and set themselves apart in a hyper-competitive industry by offering unique flavors. LabelValue’s “one-stop-shop” for shrink sleeve printing and application services enable breweries to receive small quantities of professionally labeled cans for their specialty runs. The cans are delivered with sleeves applied, on pallets, ready to be filled. The Ska Fabricating Depalletizer allows LableValue to increase the speed of the application services, addressing the biggest concern that craft breweries have with their labeled can suppliers.

“Breweries are operating in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment,” said Carol-Ann Puleo, Director of Business Development, LabelValue. “There are oftentimes last-minute changes to things like ABV, filling schedules, and label designs. They value our services because we are flexible and responsive. Increasing our efficiency with the depalletizer allows us to enhance this flexibility and offer even more reliable and timely service to the brewing industry.”

Additionally, aluminum can manufacturer Ball Corps. announced that the minimum order for cans will be raised from 204,000 to 1,020,000 cans effective Jan. 1, 2022. This greatly increases the demand for shrink sleeved cans for craft breweries of all sizes. In contrast, LabelValue’s minimum shrink on can order size is 1,945 cans, allowing breweries the flexibility to brew and can much smaller amounts for things like specialty or seasonal offerings. The depallitizer installation ensures that LabelValue can continue to be responsive to their client’s increased demand for shrink sleeved cans.

"The depalletizer allows our production team to be more productive and in turn increases our capacity,” said Tim Hutchinson, Production Manager, LabelValue. “We’ve made significant investments in equipment over the past 6 months to increase efficiency and capacity, and this installation helps achieve that goal as well.”

Connected to the depalletizer is a high speed shrink sleeve application line, consisting of a high-speed conveyor belt, steam tunnel, and a fully automated Ska Fabricating Can Repalletizer. This comprises a highly efficient shrink sleeve application line, outfitted to work with both 12oz. and 16oz. beverage cans.
