The Prescription Monitoring Program is responsible for collecting data into the Connecticut Prescription Monitoring and Reporting System, which can be used by healthcare providers and pharmacists to prescribe the right treatment for their patients. Under this program all pharmacists and medical providers are required to label prescription opioids with a bright orange fluorescent warning label stating “DANGER TO CHILDREN KEEP OUT OF REACH.” Using FDA opioid drug warning labels serve as a clear and direct reminder to keep those powerful medications away from children, reducing the risk of accidental ingestion and potential harm and/or death.
