More States Choosing to Legalize the Use of Marijuana for Medical and Recreational Use

Yesterday Americans headed to the polls for the mid-term elections. Many had already performed early voting or, like me, voted by mail. Among other items on the ballot, many voters were also taking a stand on marijuana. While Florida narrowly rejected a plan to legalize marijuana, voters in Oregon and Washington, D.C. approved the use of recreational marijuana.

In Guam, voters chose to legalize the usage of medical marijuana.  Guam joined twenty-three other states as well as Washington D.C., where marijuana was already legalized for medical use.

Regulations for this relatively new industry cover everything from growing and processing to retail and consumption. Included in these rules are, of course, regulation for the labels and packaging. The state of Colorado requires, among other things, that the label includes the sale date, net weight, a complete list of pesticides, and other chemicals. It also must include five warnings: age restriction, general health risks, health risks for pregnant women, heavy machinery use, and illegality outside the state. In addition, the label must show the potency range and, if it’s meant to be eaten, chewed, or drank, more warning labels must be present.

And with the increase in medical marijuana use, there will also be an increase in regulation and laws regarding the safe and proper labeling of cannabis products. Our line of state-specific and generic Cannabis Regulation Labels can help to label your products for sale accordingly.
