Increase Sales by Creating Labels that Focus on New Year’s Resolutions
- Jan 6, 2014
The New Year has just begun and, if you’re like most people, you probably waited until today to actually begin working on your New Year’s Resolution…especially since most holiday revelers were celebrating into the weekend. Like every year, losing weight and making lifestyle changes top the list when it comes to making those New Year’s Resolutions. If you sell a product that is healthy or designed to improve overall wellness, now is the time to make changes to your labels to cash in on the renewed interest health and fitness industry.
Change the color. In her book, “Niche Marketing for Coaches,” Hanna McNamara explains that you need to consider whether you want people to buy on impulse or not. To encourage impulse buying you should design labels with colors like reds, oranges, blacks, or blues. For other shoppers, colors like pink, light blue, and navy work well for attracting buyers. For health-related products specifically, green is associated with nature, growth, and hope.
Focus on value. All marketers understand that the number one concern for customers is what a product can do for them. Around the first of the year, when we are kicking on the health and fitness season, customers are particularly concerned with how products can help them be healthy or help them lose weight. Look at the content on your package and decide whether you need to make changes to switch to a more health-centric focus.
Run a promotion. Is there any kind of promotion that you can run to encourage customers to be healthy? Perhaps one that will let them track their weight loss or fitness goals? Weight loss and fitness challenges can be held on your company's social media platforms. If you have a food product consider posting healthy recipes using your products as part of the challenge. Hold a contest for the biggest transformation. Get your customers involved and excited. Run a special edition of digital labels and print the details for the contest or challenge directly on your label to promote.
